About the role

You will be reporting directly to the Site Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the most effective use of engineering resources, ensuring compliance to Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation. By implementing the site strategy, you need will to ensure the Engineering function is effective, low cost, well-motivated, flexible and continually adapts to changing circumstances. You will need to maintain an environment and culture of safe working practices which are understood and maintained within the engineering function. You will be ensuring all engineering work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with best manufacturing practice, health and safety legislation and company standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Working cross functionally to ensure that the engineering function works within an integrated manufacturing team, to ensure maximum availability Of assets.
  • Positively influence the change management process, driving engineering culture towards world class performance.
  • Agree standards of performance across the site within an annual budget, with due regard for past and projected performance data.
  • To monitor progress of plant performance and implement downtime reduction activities,
  • Continually develop and ensure that the planned maintenance procedures are correctly adhered to and completion targets are attained.
  • To track Engineering KPl's and develop action plans to attain targets.
  • Provide technical expertise and engineering knowledge in resolving engineering problems.
  • Ensure business maintains maximum effectiveness and benefit from existing site technology. Identify replacements of plant, processes and systems as required by business objectives and plant condition.
  • Ensure the use of performance management systems to drive maximum productivity from assets and people.
  • To coach, review and develop staff potential to achieve operational and personal targets. To ensure continued improvement in engineering skills through a structured development programme.
  • Ensure departmental compliance to Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and European directive requirements.

About you

  • Minimum third level / technical qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of strong leadership skills in managing people.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to increase efficiency through effective performance management.
  • Desire to drive and build strong levels of employee engagement.
  • Ability to develop employees through continuous development, coaching and empowerment to create improved performance.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure; and flexibility within time management to ensure business needs are met. Aspiration to challenge at all levels, using appropriate manner and behaviour to encourage positive change. Have a strong commercial and business awareness and the ability to influence and engage key stakeholders.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Demonstrable track record with at least 3-5 years’ experience of managing teams to targets/KPls within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver high-level performance through excellent people management in an operational shift environment. Experience of working with new technologies to continuously-improve performance.
