Our engineering team is looking for someone who can help us keep our high speed packaging lines running smoothly, and maximize our uptime through effective maintenance, fault diagnosis and speedy fixes.

We have a team of 23 engineers on site, supporting a total Production team of c.150 people. Our plant operates at high speeds - 1800 cans per minute come off our canning line alone, and we also operate bottling lines and kegging lines. We produce a range of beers, from our own famous brands like Tennent's and Caledonia Best, to beer produced on license for other breweries and own-label retailers.

This is a full-time, permanent role which involves shift work (Days, Backs and Nights).


So what’s involved?

  • Carrying out planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance tasks, while working to the correct engineering standards.

  • Following relevant quality procedures to ensure the first-time quality of our products

  • Assist FLM in the prioritisation of work. Recommend and advise on spare parts.

  • Ensuring that all work carried out is entered into SIMPS and that defects and abnormalities are captured and followed-up.

  • Supporting external suppliers/contractors while they’re on site.

  • Maintaining work area in line with 5S.

  • Actively participating in training to maintain your own personal development.

  • Mentoring crafts and operators in your area of expertise.

  • Identifying opportunities for plant improvements.

  • Occasionally support engineering colleagues in other parts of the site, e.g. Brewing, Warehousing, etc.


What you’ll need:

  • You’ll have completed a formal apprenticeship in a relevant occupation (ideally with a focus on mechanical engineering)

  • Preferably HNC or C&G qualified

  • Good verbal and numerical skills

  • Computer literacy, with knowledge of MS Office packages

  • The ability to develop positive and productive working relationships with colleagues

  • Experience of working in a fast paced, target driven production/manufacturing environment, preferably in the consumer goods industry

  • The ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize workload effectively

  •  A strong results focus, and with a great attention to detail

  • An enthusiasm for your role, and the willingness to always keep learning and improving
