Credit Controller (Subject matter Expert)

Six-month Fixed-Term




We’re looking for two Credit Controller’s (Subject Matter Experts) on a fixed-term basis to help us within our Account Services department. As a Subject Matter Expert, or SME, you will have collected your knowledge through your professional experience since being a Credit Controller.   


So what’s involved?


As an SME you will possess a deep understanding of being a Credit Controller. You will be the first point of contact for all Credit Controllers within your team. The subject in question can be anything, such as the daily job, process, software solution, historical information, and more. You will have a level of understanding regarding their subject that is not common knowledge, making yourself valuable to the team.


As part of your role as SME you will be first point of contact for all team queries related to the daily tasks of the role.  You will maximize cash flow and minimize bad debt.  Ensure company overdue debt levels are within targeted parameters and minimize financial risk. 


You will review overdue accounts daily and place customers on monitor / stop when necessary, build and maintain strong relationships with customers to collect overdue payments, managing their payment options and find appropriate resolutions to their account queries.


You’ll liaise with sales personnel and internal departments (Sales Ops, Customer Care etc.) to resolve queries on customer accounts in a timely manner. You will also manage multiple Inboxes keeping up to date with all incoming queries.


The SME will attend regular debt review meetings with Credit Control Team Leader and run regular Debt Review Meetings with Sales to ensure outstanding issues are being addressed. You will manually generate statements monthly per customer specifications and understand, analyse and report on the overall credit risk of their ledger.


You will also ensure debit notes are dealt with as soon as they are received, raise claims, allow time for investigation and close off claims accordingly. Update shared reports and trackers , and raise debits and credits as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Excel to VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
