Business Administration Apprentice

Glasgow - Wellpark Brewery
This vacancy is now closed
You probably know us best from our famous brands like Tennent’s and Magners, but that is only one part of what we do. We’re also Scotland’s biggest drinks wholesaler and distributor, employing around 600 people from Dumfries to Inverness.  And we’re part of an even bigger company: C&C Group plc, which has sites in Ireland, England and the US.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Business Administration Apprentice who is interested in starting a career in an administrative role. Initially, you will be working with our Human Resources (HR) department. Our HR team work with managers throughout the business to ensure our people are recruited, developed, rewarded and equipped with the knowledge they need to perform at their best every day.
So what’s involved?
This role is all about supporting the business with day-to-day administration, and learning more about how a busy HR team operates, and how they support the staff and managers at Tennent’s.
You’ll develop great customer service skills (covering both internal and external customers), help us arrange meetings and events, learn how we process busiess information and manage our finances. You’ll support projects and day-to-day activity within the HR team, and develop strong relationships with people across the business.
You’ll learn how to manage your time, and how to organise and plan your own work. And you’ll get to grips with a range of technology and equipment, as well as supporting some of our social media activity and internal communications.
You’ll be joining a small, friendly hardworking team, but you will be expected to work using your own initiative and solve problems with guidance from your colleagues.
Most of your learning will happen on the job over over a period of 12-24 months, but you’ll also be studying for a nationally recognised qualification. Once you qualify, we hope that you’ll move into a permanent administration role at Tennent’s, and continue to develop and grow your career with us.
What you’ll need:
  • A good academic background – You probably enjoyed subjects like Business Studies, English, Maths and IT while you were at school
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • A conscientious approach – You’re reliable and hardworking, and don’t take shortcuts
  • An interest in starting a career in an administrative role.
  • Some experience in life, school or employment that demonstrates your ability to live our four ‘T’ values – Tenacious (the determination to make things happen), Trusted (people know they can rely on you), Tempted (curiosity and confidence to try new things), True (respecting your team mates and looking out for each other).
While you’re training, you’ll work for 35hrs a week and receive £9.00 per hour (equal to £16,380 a year). We'll also fully fund your training and qualification in business administration. You’ll have the option to join our staff pension, and enjoy a generous holiday allowance. Plus, you’ll receive a product allowance to share with your family and friends (but if you’re under 18, you’ll be limited to soft drinks!).
Send us a CV that demonstrates your interest in HR and any relevant work or educational experience. We’re aiming to hold interviews in April and have all our new apprentices start in early July.
The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 24th March.
