Graduate Automation Engineer

 

We’re on the look-out for a Graduate Automation Engineer to assist with all aspects of automation best practice on our manufacturing sites - maintaining a “continuous improvement” approach including assisting with the development of the automation systems & activates to increase our efficiency.

Our Manufacturing teams are the engine that drives our business. In your first year as a Graduate Automation Engineer, you’ll experience what it’s like to work within a fast-paced technical environment (brewery) – as well as learning more about the culture of Bulmers & about the ‘in’s & out’s’ of manufacturing operations putting you on a steady clear path to becoming an established Automation Engineer.

 

 

So, what’s involved?

 

You’ll be working alongside both the Automation & wider Engineering team, working towards the achievement of targets we’ve decided on in our operational plans. You’ll assist using your technical knowledge & training as the foundations to ensure localised plant/process optimisation.

Other key day-to-day objectives include:

  • Assist with the continuous improvement & monitoring of all aspects of process performance, driving continuous automation optimisation as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Managing Resources – liaise with the Maintenance Co-Ordinator & engineering teams daily to cover various maintenance requirements & other associated automation needs.
  • Use your problem solving skills during root cause analysis of any arising issues
  • Reporting – Monitor all trends across various operational departments including issues (and appropriate resolutions) and communicate this regularly to stakeholders
  • Communication – Prepare performance information regarding issues & actions required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
  • Any training & development requirements, including of other Technicians.
  • And so much more! Every-day is different & you will get a chance to learn & use a wide range of engineering skills.

 

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • Graduate with an Electrical Engineering/Automation, Physics & Applied Instruments or equivalent/ relevant other
  • Any food/manufacturing environment experience (whether through work, voluntary, placements, university, etc) would be ideal but not essential 
  • Ability to learn & actively contribute in the following areas: Industrial Control, Robotics, Programme Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Industrial Networks & Data Intelligence
  • Ambitious automation professional looking to make a mark by helping us achieve the targets we’ve set ourselves!
